About Us

We’ve called the Midwest home for generations and there’s nowhere else we’d want to raise a family than here in this living prairie

Living Prairie Farms is based in Wolcott, Indiana. We’re on just over 4,000 certified organic farmland raising crops like sunflowers, soybeans, barley and more. In 2014, after thinking about our responsibility as farmers to help reduce the pollution and environmental damages agriculture can be known for, we decided to transition the farm to organic.

From a personal viewpoint, our family’s health is very important and we wanted to find ways to reduce or eliminate any bad juju out there from harmful practices. This has meant more nutrients and better tasting food not just for our family but yours too.

Stewardship

To us, being stewards means being the best caretakers we can for the land using our gifts, skills and resources available. America’s breadbasket has seen decades of monocropping, synthetic fertilizers, and pesticides all to chase quantity not quality. We don’t want to participate in that system so we’re changing that starting with the land.

We want to rediscover the natural thriving system between all living things and the planet we get to call home. Part of that system includes assessing soil and plant health, knowing how our rotation can support that health and honoring that soil needs a break too! 

I grew up learning about farming from my dad - so many little lessons each day add up. I came back to the farm after college and never left. Now I’ve got two kids of my own and my wife Megan and I want to make sure the food I grow is something that I feel good serving my family.

We discovered sprouted grain bread and loved the flavor. Working with heritage grains and bringing a value added process to our farm fits our mission and we’re excited to share it with you!
